Body Construction

PET-CF Filament

Two kilograms of filament are required for a complete body. PET-CF is preferred for ease of use, dimensional stability, and material strength.

Alternative: PET-GF is a valid alternative to PET-CF and may be less expensive. Do not use PLA or standard PETG; they can fail under string tension over time.

G/Flex 650 Epoxy

A flexible marine-grade epoxy that handles vibration and stress without cracking. One kit has enough epoxy for multiple Relay bodies.

Guitar Hardware

Guitar Neck

Necks with identical listed specs can vary meaningfully. Budget time for fitting and check compatibility before ordering.

Alternative: Use a compatible 24.75-inch bolt-on neck that matches the Relay pocket and scale geometry.

Fixed Hardtail Bridge

Neck Mounting Ferrules

String Ferrule Plate

Alternative: Individual string ferrules work. The plate is simpler and cleaner for a first build; individual ferrules are cheaper but require careful alignment.

Locking Tuners

Backplate Screws

Push-Push Pots

Alternative: Standard 500k pots work for volume and tone if coil splitting is omitted. The split function requires push-push or equivalent switched pots.

Selector Switch, 3-way

Relay Lipstick uses a 3-way pickup selector for neck, both, and bridge humbuckers. The lipstick is engaged separately through the control wiring.

Tone Capacitor

Relay Lipstick and Relay Torch both specify a 22 nF (`0.022 µF`, `223`) master-tone capacitor. The Torch Edge Contour also needs a **separate** 2.2 nF (`222`) capacitor and 150 kΩ resistor, wired together as shown in its wiring guide. Do not use the 2.2 nF contour capacitor in place of the 22 nF tone capacitor.

Alternative: Use the value in the selected model wiring reference. Other values change the tone-control sweep.

Treble Bleed

Preserves high-frequency response when rolling back volume. Without it, the guitar gets muddy as volume decreases.

Output Jack

Alternative: Any standard 1/4-inch mono output jack works if it fits the body cavity.

Hookup Wire

Alternative: Any 22-24 AWG stranded hookup wire works. Avoid solid core because it is harder to route and fatigues with vibration.

Copper Foil Tape

Used to shield the control cavity. Conductive adhesive is required so overlapping pieces maintain electrical continuity.
